
According to the Fresh Fruit Bulletin of the Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies (Odepa), during the first quarter of 2021 fresh fruit exports totaled 899,000 tons and 2,571 million FOB dollars, registering a 2% increase in volume and a 6% increase in value over the same quarter of the previous year.
Between January and March 2021, the country exported 265,700 tons of cherry for 1.357 billion FOB dollars, registering an interannual increase of 83% in volume and 42% in value. Most of the cherries were sent to China, a country that concentrated 93 % of the total value of cherry shipments.
Blueberry shipments totaled 94,300 tons and 466.4 million dollars FOB, registering a 13% increase in volume and a 12% increase in value over the same period of the previous year. The main buyers were the US, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom (concentrating 48%, 21%, and 11% of the blueberry shipments' total value, respectively).
Table grape exports totaled 257,200 tons worth 402.3 million FOB dollars, registering a 21% decrease in volume and a 33% decrease in value over the same period of the previous year. Table grape shipments were mainly sent to the US. (71%)
