Now that summer has finally arrived, Grape Spy highly recommends these two very interesting wines that are perfect for al fresco dining in the garden this summer.
2020 Guerrieri Rizzardi Lugana: €14.95
A classic Italian white, this is made from grapes grown in the Veneto region on the historic estates of the Rizzardi family close to Lake Garda. Made from a grape called Trebbiano, this classic white-wine style has gorgeous peachy aromas. It has a textured feel to it - with ripe melon and tropical fruit flavours, it is quite full-bodied for a white. Enjoy with a mushroom risotto or an antipasto plate of sun-dried tomatoes, smoked meat and cheese. On offer in O'Briens Wine until July 18.
2019 Eddystone Point Pinot Noir: €20.95
This wine is made from grapes grown on the island of Tasmania, to the south of Australia. The big red wine trend this summer is for lighter style reds with lower alcohol, and this wine certainly fits the bill. Pinot Noir is known for its summer fruit flavours of strawberry and cherry. This Pinot has a lovely freshness to it - lots of ripe fruit yet with a subtle spiciness. On offer in O'Briens until July 18, this would be a perfect match with fresh salmon and new potatoes.
