Wisconsin Corn Foundation offers first scholarship
The Wisconsin Corn Growers Association and the Wisconsin Corn Foundation is offering their first scholarship this year. Farmer Mike Berget is on the foundation board. “We just felt that we need to get the youths involved, whether they go on to do actual farming or if they go on into a business that works with crops, agronomy, or whatever.”
Berget says their fundraising was slowed by COVID-19 and the lack of events, including the silent auction that was supposed to take place at the Wisconsin Corn-Soy Expo, but he says there is enough to cover their first 500-dollar scholarship. “We put it together this spring. We’re awarding one this spring and the application has got to be in by April 15th. They can go on our website and get that information.”
Berget says the scholarship is open to students graduating from high school or already holding a high school diploma and can be applied towards any ag program at any institution.
The website with more information and the application form is wicorn.org.
