DWU Classic roundup: Viborg-Hurley tops Knights at Corn Palace - The Daily Republic

Viborg-Hurley (13-3): Gradee Sherman scored a game-high 20 points to go with 12 rebounds. Eli Boomgarden added an 11-point, 13-rebound double-double. The Cougars play Menno on Tuesday in Viborg.

Aberdeen Christian (12-4): Ethan Russell and Malek Wieker scored 11 and 10 points, respectively. Brent Ekanger pulled down 12 rebounds. The Knights host Langford Area on Tuesday.

Class B No. 4 Canistota shook off a slow start to down Dell Rapids St. Mary on Friday at the DWU Classic.

Canistota (15-2): Chase Merrill paced the Hawks with 23 points. Isaiah Robertson scored 17 points, while Tyce Ortman added 15 points and 10 boards. Logan Katzer pulled down 12 rebounds. The Hawks travel to Howard on Tuesday.

Dell Rapids St. Mary (14-4): Connor Libis poured in 27 points to go with six rebounds. Sam Palmer chipped in 13 points. The Cardinals host Baltic on Friday.

Class B No. 1 De Smet used a fast start to take down White River on Saturday at the Corn Palace during the DWU Classic.

De Smet (17-1): Kalen Garry scored 36 points on 13-for-20 shooting. He also grabbed 12 rebounds. Ethan McCune added 12 points and Cody Cavanaugh recorded 10 points. The Bulldogs travel to Lake Preston on Tuesday.

White River (11-5): Joe Sayler paced the Tigers with 21 points. Dylan Marshall chipped in 18 points and two steals, while Colbe Scott scored 10 points. The Tigers host Lakota Tech on Thursday.

Corsica-Stickney’s Brendan Wentland scored 27 points to guide the Jaguars past Freema Academy/Marion in the DWU Classic on Saturday at the Corn Palace.

Corsica-Stickney (10-5): Wentland also grabbed six rebounds. Trever Burke scored 15 points in the win. Caleb Krogstad grabbed a team-high eight rebounds. The Jaguars play Tripp-Delmont/Armour on Tuesday in Corsica.

Freeman Academy/Marion (11-6): Thalen Schroeder finished with 22 points and six rebounds. Connor Epp added 12 points, six rebounds, nine assists and three steals in the win. Quincy Blue chipped in eight points. The Bearcats play Alcester-Hudson on Tuesday in Marion.

Lyman edged past Bridgewater-Emery for a boys basketball win at the DWU Classic on Saturday at the Corn Palace.

Lyman (14-3): Tyson Floyd paced the Raiders with 14 points and five rebounds. Toby Estes added 13 points in the win. Sam McClanahan added eight rebounds, while Stockton McClanahan pulled down seven boards. The Raiders travel to Chamberlain on Tuesday.

Bridgewater-Emery (11-6): Camden Dye scored nine points and pulled down six rebounds, while Bodie Burnham added eight points. Rylee Schultz added six boards. The Huskies play Irene-Wakonda on Tuesday in Emery.

Hanson cruised past Chamberlain for a DWU Classic win on Saturday at the Corn Palace.

Hanson (14-4): Ethan Cheeseman recorded 18 points and eight rebounds. Riley Ferry and Noah Price each scored 11 points, while Ferry also grabbed eight rebounds. Hayden Bahmuller finished with eight points and 12 boards. The Beavers play Corsica-Stickney on Thursday in Corsica.

Chamberlain (15-2): Drayton Priebe finished with 20 points for the Cubs. Hayden Evans added eight points. The Cubs host Lyman on Tuesday.

St. Thomas More (14-3): Caleb Hollenbeck scored 19 points, while Cade Kandolin added 18 points. Ryan Wojick chipped in 15 points and nine rebounds in the win. The Cavaliers play Hot Springs on Tuesday in Rapid City.

Dell Rapids (11-6): Brayden Pankonen scored a team-high 12 points. Colin Rentz and Avery Boechler each chipped in 10 points. The Quarriers travel to Sisseton on Tuesday.
