‘Braced is a self-portrait, my interpretation of the impact of the midlife crisis on women, in time, place, and the self. I try to use humour and drama to reflect a range of emotional states of women at the crossroads, depicting angst, heartbreak, disappointment, loss and disillusion. I look at this photo and feel it is still timely, the isolation brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, the country split in half, the clamour and struggle for social justice, and the stress on my body and mind due to the shutdown’
