Filmed during the ongoing pandemic, Kurt Wimmer‘s new take on Stephen King’s Children of the Corn is on the way, and it’s just received its official rating from the MPAA.
Like the other films in the franchise, this one – listed by Film Ratings as Stephen King’s Children of the Corn – has been Rated R for “violence and bloody images.”
The new film’s cast includes Elena Kampouris (Before I Fall), Kate Moyer (“When Hope Calls”), Callan Mulvey (Avengers: Endgame) and Bruce Spence (The Road Warrior).
Variety details, “The film describes the events leading up to, and including, the massacre of the adults of a small town in Nebraska by their children, after the adults’ irresponsibility ruins the crop and the children’s future.” The site also notes, using comments from producer Lucas Foster, that the new movie has “almost nothing to do with” the original 1984 classic.
“We went back to the story and free-associated from there,” Foster said.
Be sure to head over to Variety to read the full piece and check out a first-look set photo.
