Starting this weekend, Sept. 24-27, guests can pick fresh grapes by hand from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. until muscadine harvest ends.

ALTUS, Ark. — Post Winery is opening its vineyards to a “U-Pick” operation for the first time in its over 140 years of business.

Starting this weekend, Sept. 24-27, guests can pick fresh grapes by hand between 1:00 p.m. and 5 p.m.

“I've been on the payroll since 1972 and I've never seen us open up to let people come U-Pick before the harvest, you're actually getting the first fruit," says owner Joesph Post.

This will continue for the next several weeks in the Ozarks until muscadine harvest ends.

Extra rain brought a plentiful harvest and with other bumper crops being collected, Post says they do not have enough room to fit all the muscadine grapes in their tanks. As a solution, the community can purchase three different types of muscadine grapes for $5 a quart. Additional fruit can be bought for $1.50 per lb.

Everyone is welcome to bring their own containers/shears, or Post will provide for a nominal fee. You need to wear a mask to sign up to pick grapes at the vineyard, but Post says each family will have plenty of room to social distance.

Post says to check their Facebook page before heading to the vineyard.
