KYIV, Sept 18 (Reuters) - Ukrainian corn exports fell by 4% in the first 11 months of the 2019/20 September-August season to 28.7 million tonnes, from 29.9 million tonnes in the same period in 2018/19, analyst APK-Inform said on Friday.

Ukraine, one of the world's leading corn producers and exporters, harvested 35.9 million tonnes in 2019.

The consultancy said China has increased it corn imports from Ukraine to 5.4 million tonnes from 3.8 million tonnes in 2018/19.

The European Union remains the leading buyer of Ukrainian corn with import volumes of 10.5 million tonnes. However, that is much lower than the 15.9 million tonnes imported in 2018/19, APK-Inform said.

Ukraine's economy ministry last month said that poor weather could reduce the country's corn harvest to about 33 million tonnes this year and exports could fall to 26 million tonnes.

Analysts expect exports of about 29 million tonnes in 2020/21. (Reporting by Pavel Polityuk Editing by David Goodman )
